Privacy Policy
Carry the Story is made by Fire in Belly / FatCouple OÜ. It is a storybook that runs entirely on your device.
Last updated: 21 August 2026
Carry the Story does not collect, store, or transmit personal information, usage data, identifiers, diagnostics, contacts, or location. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics tools, and no third-party tracking software of any kind.
The app does not connect to the internet
Every story, illustration, narration recording, and dictionary entry is included in the app when you download it. The app contains no networking code, so there is no server for it to talk to and nothing for it to send. Carry the Story works exactly the same in aeroplane mode as it does at home.
Because there is no server and no account, we hold no user data whatsoever. There is nothing for you to request, export, or ask us to delete.
What stays on your device
The app remembers a small number of preferences so it can pick up where you left off. These are stored only in the app's own local storage on your device:
- Which language your child reads, listens in, and sees word meanings in
- Whether you prefer the Eastern or Western picture style
- Whether narration uses the cheerful or the sleepy reading voice
- Whether story text is shown or hidden
- Parent mode or kid mode
- Which stories you have added to the bedtime shelf, and their order
- Whether the opening questions have been answered
None of this leaves your device. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
Permissions
Carry the Story requests no permissions. It does not ask for the camera, microphone, photo library, location, contacts, calendar, Bluetooth, local network, or notifications, because it does not use any of them.
Children
Carry the Story is made for children and is listed in the App Store Kids Category. We collect no information from anyone, of any age, which means we collect nothing from children either. There is no chat, no user-generated content, no social feature, no web browsing, no advertising, and no link out of the app to anywhere else. Kid mode further reduces the settings a child can reach so the only choice left is which pictures they prefer.
Purchases
The app is free and contains no in-app purchases and no subscriptions. All 106 stories are included.
Changes
If a future version changes how the app handles information, we will update this page and the App Store privacy answers together, and change the date above.
